Home FAQ

  • General

    • Is there a dress code?

No.  Camp Shoovy does not have a dress code.
    • What do you do on very hot days at camp?

We provide our children with loads of water and all activities take place inside.  We also try to incorporate special water activities and provide extra drinks.
    • Is there a mini day option?

This is ONLY offered to children in Pre-K, K and 1st Grade and it is optional, not mandatory.  It is for our ketantan division and runs from 9:30-12:30.  If a child wishes to extend from a mini-day to a full-day, they are able to do so, provided we have availability in their respective age group.
    • Where do you go on field trips?

We will disseminate this information to you in the spring.  We always travel by school bus with certified school bus drivers.  Several parent chaperones will escort the campers on each field trip.  We visit indoor amusements, zoos, arcades, bowling alleys, vegetable picking farms, art workshops and more.  We will communicate all details of each trip well in advance.
    • What do I pack each day for my child?

A Dairy lunch is great!  You can send your children with snacks and drinks, although we provide one daily snack and drinks throughout the day.  Waterbottles, sunscreen, swimsuit, and towels should be sent each day as well.
    • Do I need to pack my child two lunches when he/she goes on an overnight?

No.  Camp will provide lunch the second day when they are on an overnight.
    • What does my child need to wear each day?

We encourage our campers to wear clothing in which they will feel comfortable.  Sneakers are highly reccommended, especially for sports activites.  Crocs or sandals are reccommended for water activities.  The camp t-shirt MUST be worn on days with field trips.  Each child receives one free t-shirt and additional t-shirts are available for $10 each.
    • Is there any medical care at camp?

In addition to our staff trained in First Aid, we have a camp doctor who is on call for us during camp hours.  He is available whenever we need him for medical issues.  We do not have a camp nurse.
    • What is swim time like?

All divisions except for the ketantan division are invited to go to our Olympic size pool where there are professional lifeuards on duty.  The ketantanim have outdoor mini pools and sprinklers.  They do not go to the Olympic size pool with the rest of the camp.  If a camper in an older division does not feel comfortable swimming in an Olympic size swimming pool, they can choose to sit on the side and not swim.  If there is a special request for private swim instruction, be sure to speak with Devorah to make arrangments.
