Camp Shoovy opened its doors in 2006 in response to the high demand for Jewish summer programming for the children of Denver. "Summer is such a crucial time in the dfevelopment of a child", say Devorah Buxbaum, camp director. "Children really tend to discover new strengths and talents that they don't develop in school. I wanted to give our Jewish boys and girls the opportunity to do so in a safe, fun and caring environment, which would also enrich their Jewish awareness".
Camp Shoovy was created with the intent to bring children together from all Jewish backrounds, to learn from eachother, have a great time together, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Camp Shoovy campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride in their Jewish heritage and a love for the land of Israel. Judaic themes are taught through exciting activities, stories, songs, games and contests, which are part of the unique Camp Shoovy experience. Combined with group discussions and educational programs, these events bring to life the beauty and values of our tradition.
